Two finished quilts

 Hello Everyone,

I have two finished quilts to show you. The first one is my Southwestern quilt that I started here. I made this for my son Jed. He's 6'3", so it had to be a big quilt. The quilt is 82" x 79", so just big enough.

Jed and I talked about the design and colors he wanted. And so I scanned the web looking for Southwestern designs to incorporate in his quilt. 

He requested a soft, snuggly flannel for the back. Its hard to see this design, but it's a pine tree with a line going around it, makes it look a little Southwestern ;)

I had a good time designing this. And he says he really likes it, colors and all :) So I did a good job.

The next quilt is this pretty little baby quilt for my best friends newest Granddaughter. Who is due to arrive sometime in July.

I had some of these cute prints of the girl, animals and tree fort left over from  my Daughters quilt, so I went thru my stash and found some colors to go with it. 

I just love this mint and pink together, isn't is sweet? This one also has a soft, snuggly flannel backing. These koala's are cute too! (the colors are not really true to form in any of the pictures, but come closest in the below picture.)

It's a small baby sized, just under 40" square. But one I hope she'll drag around with her and play with dollies with :)

Bloggers Quilt Festival

This is my first year of joining in the fun over at Amy's place. I do enjoy seeing all the beautiful quilts every year. So decided to jump on board this year, with my I spy quilt.

Those of you who read me often are probably sick of this quilt by now ;) LOL Welcome to those of you coming over from Amy's.

 My little guy really likes it :) In this picture you can see him lifting a flap. All the colored squares are flaps, and you when lift them up there is a color co-ordinated animal or vehicle. He loves both!

Little things

Hello you'all,

It's finally Fall. Although this past week you wouldn't know it by the weather. It was way too hot. But this weekend, we are getting some beautiful Fall weather....maybe even a shower or two :)

I love the early morning light on these trees. The leaves are turning and starting to fall.

I can't believe my little one is 6 months old already! He's sitting up by himself now, with an occasional topple, so we are still pretty careful with him ;) Here he is in one of his favorite spots, the tractor!

He really, really wants to eat 'big people' food. So I've started him on some cereal, banana's and applesauce.
Which means he needed some bibs. Aren't these appropriate. lol

I have a pile of mystery blocks. I'm still working at it. I just don't have time to sew as much as I'd like, so these things are taking time.

I have to work on this, so my mystery quilt will probably go put away for a bit. This is a baby quilt we are making for Sally, who is expecting  a Grandson. I'm piecing it, and will send it to another forum member to quilt.

And then I have to get  one quilted. It's for another forum member, Tricia, who has a Grandson that needs a quilt.

Then maybe I can play with my fabric for Isaiahs', I spy quilt....I am expecting the rest the fabric in the mail anyday now, then I can show you.

A gaggle of geese

It's finally time for changing colors here. We have a lot of black oaks, and they look beautiful with there yellow and light green leaves.

Which also mean it's time for geese...

These ones are flying around my sewing room. The ones below are flying overhead outside, looking for a warmer climate.

I am pairing up my geese with some signature blocks. Not sure if they have another name or not, but this is what I know them as.

I've gone thru my stash, looking for tone on tones and solids to match.

 

Throw in a few monkeys...

And put the geese together in long rows.

Lots of ironing and trimming!! UGH, I hate trimming...but it's the only way to tame these geese. Do you know, I make better geese if I cut out three triangles and sew them together, then if I make them the shortcut way?? Weird.

The zigzag, dots and monkeys (Anne Kelle prints) are leftover from my monkey quilt.  I thought the zigzags would make cute geese, and they do! lol

I'll show you how all my blocks play together, when I'm finished. It's going to be a baby quilt.
