Bloggers quilt festival

Hello Folks,

It's time again for the Blogger Quilt Festival, put on by Amy every year. There are always awesome prizes and gorgeous eye candy to look at. Voting has started, so go over and pick your favorites.

I'm entering my Lone star that I made for our Paint Chip Challenge over on the Q&N. This challenge required us to make a project using one to three of the colors on a paint chip card. My colors are the beige/taupe ones.

I did some straight line quilting in the star.

And I did free motion roses in the background.

It's 42" square.

I quilted it on my Singer 201 vintage sewing machine. I am brand new to FMQing, and pretty new to quilting altogether on a home machine. I was a hand quilter for many years. So this is a fun, new challenge for me and I am really loving it.

Thanks Amy!

Happenings and ALYOF goal setting

Hello Everyone,

I hope those in the West are staying cool. I hate these heat waves. LOL

First up, if you are a Quilt and Needle forum member, OR are a member of our Facebook site, it's time to vote for the Paint Chip Challenge. You have until July 5th. And let me tell you, there is 13 gorgeous projects, and you can only vote once! It's a hard choice.

Secondly, here is my oldest sons finished quilt top. He loves it :)

He is passionate about Trains, so I have called it Train Stop. He also is a math whiz, so those geometric shapes are right up his alley.

I love the gray graduate strips. They are from V & Co's Simply Color line.

And third, my goal for July is to get my Christmas in July blog hop project started and completed! I have to have it done by August 2nd, which is my day on the blog hop......

I don't even have my fabric yet! So can't even show you a picture of that. lol.

A Lovely Year of Finishes Have a great day!

PCC Finished!!

Hello Everyone!

It's almost deadline time in our Paint Chip Challenge on the Q&N forum. Once Cindy has all the pictures of the participate's projects, she'll compile them and make a poll so you can vote for your FAVORITE one. The criteria is that the project has to use the paint chips 3 colors as it's focus fabric. The voting will go on till July  5th. You will also be able to vote on our Facebook site.

Sooooo.... here is my project! Along with my paint chip. These colors are VERY outside my box.

I love the bits of pink and red.

I love this border :)

I did a more dense quilting than I usually do.

And I have been practicing my FMQing.

Come on over and enjoy the eye candy. I'll let you know when you the poll is up to vote.

* Linking up with Alyce from Blossom Heart quilts today. Thank you Alyce!

* This is also my June finish for ALYOF, woohooo! Thanks Shanna and Melissa!

Quilting practice

Hello Everyone,

Do you have good weekend plans? We are going to enjoy another day or two of sunshine, then get some much needed rain. Rainy days are good days for practicing the quilting...if baby allows that is ;)

I've been getting my Paint Chip Challenge project finished up. It just needs the binding. I have 7 more days, so I best get it done!

I love my walking foot! This is the most dense quilting I've done.

I've also been working on my FMQing.

I wish the back looked as good.... I know, practice, practice! LOL.

I did discover that my machine much prefers me quilting with the feed dogs up. So that helped, once I figured it out.

This is something I want to start practicing a lot, as I really like it!!

Have a great day all!

May goal post

Hello Folks,

Can you believe it's May already!! Just where has the months flown too?

Today is my Grandma's 90th birthday, Happy Birthday Grandma!! I wish I could come and celebrate with you. I made her this sweet wall hanging, which I will be posting about on my day in the Birds blog hop, next Friday.

Ok, for my May goal, it's time for me to finish my Paint Chip Challenge project. It's a small wall hanging, and needs to be quilted. Here's a sneak peek.

The challenge is due on June 28th. You can read all about it here. As my project is a small wall hanging, it has to be quilted and bound to meet the criteria of our challenge. So that is my goal this month, to get it quilted and bound.

Thanks again Shanna and Melissa, this is so helpful!

Have a great day all.

WIP Wednesday

Hello Ya'all,

I'm hooking up with Freshly Pieced this week, for WIP wed. Thank you Lee and Claire!

I have my paint chip challenge wall hanging almost complete. I just need to order some more fabric for an outside border. Here's just a peak at it.

My I spy blocks are almost all pieced together now, although I don't have a picture of the rows, here are the blocks. More about this quilt posted here.

I've bought my hex n more ruler a week or so ago, so I am all set now to get my oldest sons quilt started.

These are the three things that are on the top of my To-do list!

The I spy quilt is my March goal, so I am working on it as much as I can.

The paint chip challenge is not due till June.

So I have some time to play with my new ruler.

Have  a great day!

What I should of been doing...

Hello Ya'all,

We are getting ready for some more snow and rain, it's going to be a chilly week. It's a good thing I have more than one project going on in the sewing room :)

I should have been making baby blocks for our Aunty quilts on the forum...

I should have been working on Isaiah's I spy quilt....and I did..

For a little bit....

But my paint chip challenge fabrics kept calling to me...

And I had a new idea pop into my head....

Wait just a minute....I was supposed to be making a table runner....so WHY did I cut my strips so big??

I guess I could make it a square table topper... sigh~

I think I'll turn it into either a wall hanging or a lap quilt, I don't have that big a table. LOL

Do you have something you should be doing, but are doing something else instead??

Have a great day.

Linking up with Freshly Pieced today.
