Sunshine Kisses is finished!

 Hello everyone,

I finished my lovely Sunshine Kisses quilt. Ohh, I just love it! So soft and warm and snuggly looking. The Sunkissed line by SweetWater is still one of my very favorites.

This is an original design, by me. I pieced it and quilted it too.
 .

As you can see, I did straight line quilting, one row on each side of the major seam lines. To emphasis the 4 square patches.

This is a darling size quilt. Just right for a toddler to have a picnic on, or maybe a tea party with lots of stuffed animals. It's also just the right size for the baby in your life. Measures 46"x46".

A few close ups of the quilting.

Here's a better view of the back. I took it before I had finished the quilt. I decided I didn't like the green on the edges, so exchange them for a gray.

I've decided to dip my feet in the selling waters around here, and see if I can make a go at making some Christmas money :)

I don't have an Etsy store, or any other online store. I know there are quite a few out there, but I don't think I have enough stuff yet to get one.

If anyone is interested in my quilt, just send me an email/comment and I'll get back to you.

Have a great day!

Fall pictures...

But not your typical ones of changing leaves and pumpkins :)

These are some flowers my DD has planted and taken care of. She loves to garden.

And she loves playing with the macro lens on my camera. Yes, she took all these pictures :)

 Some crunchy brown leaves...

Some bird berries..

One thing I love about Fall is the ever changing sky. We get a lot of clouds moving around and about, sometimes leaving some rain, other times just pretty-ing up the sky.

These are sunset pictures. I'll have to take some sunrise pictures one morning.

I'm always up before the sun is, and I love to watch it come up while I eat my breakfast.

Have a beautiful day.

A finished top

Hello everyone! Hope you are all enjoying some lovely Fall days...I know I am, finally. It's just beautiful here. Warm and sunny, with some rainy days thrown in...perfect.

I started this quilt in the Spring this year. It was intended for a jelly roll challenge.

I love the Sunkissed line, so was happy to get a jelly roll and start playing.

But, due to some math problems (who else hates math??!) which meant some fabric shortages (as I wanted particular colors and didn't have enough in the jelly roll), I didn't get this cute thing done in time for the challenge.

Soooo, my fourth child is due in the Spring, April to be exact :)  And I thought this would make a darling Spring baby quilt.

Here she is, Sunshine Kisses.....I have plenty of time to quilt it too.

And even though this quilt would be cute for either boy or girl, it is a bit more girly...so now I best make a more boy-y looking one....as we won't know the sex of our baby...till he/she gets here :)

And now it makes sense, all my no-blogging and tiredness...yes?!

Have a great day!

I needed a new wallet....

My old one was OLD. I've had it for 15 or 16 yrs! It was getting worn out, and I really needed a new one.

Sitting like this, it's 8x4.5". I didn't want one that folds up small. I needed one that wont get lost in a diaper bag, come next Spring :) You all know how when you carry a diaper bag, you don't want to have to carry a purse too. So this will fit right in, and it wont get lost.

It's 8x14" when open like this.

It has plenty of room for my cards, a zip pocket for cash/change and a hidden pocket for my checkbook.

I still have to put some velcro on the tip of the point and the back of the zip pouch, so it stays shut. But I didn't have any, so made one without.

I am not sure what I'm going to work on today. Maybe it's a good time to start getting some 'C' presents made.

What are you up to? Do you have a list of 'C' presents that you need to make too?

Have a great day!!

I'm linking up with Jenna this week, at SewHappyGeek. Thanks Jenna!

The Monkey quilt

My friends dd has received her quilt, she says she loves it :) So here it is. It's an original design, by me.

I just LOVE this zig zag binding!

The theme of the nursery is Jungle. So I just HAD to draft a 'monkeys jumping on the bed' block.

A simple quilt, but fun to make and look at.

And the pieced backing, with the label in the middle.

The fabric:

Monkeys - Urban Zoology by Ann Kellie
zig zag and polkadots - Remix by Ann Kellie (I just love this line!)
Kona solids

I'll have to look and see who the maker of the back fabric is. I've forgotten.

Have a great day!

Finished!!

 Hello everyone,

I have a finish to show you!! Yah. This quilt quilted up so easily! I used Dream batting, and I LOVE it! It's SOOO soft and quilted so easily.

I'm going to link to H&M of Quiltstory today...thanks Gals!

A nice stripy backing, and machine quilted binding. I'm getting pretty good at those now.

This is the quilt for one of our forum members.

It's called Hugs and Kisses. My eldest son likes this pattern so much, he's asked for a quilt of his own.

A closeup of the quilting. Just some simple straight line, wide spaced hatching.

And here's the pieced back, with the label in the middle.

And here's a sneakpeek of the monkey quilt. I am mailing this today, so will be able to show you all of it real soon! Don't you just love the stipped binding!!

Have a great day!!

A new project

 Hello, hello...

Still been too warm here in CA for me. In the upper 80s to low 90s. I am ready for Fall weather!! And Fall food! It's time to start picking blackberries and canning them up for Winter use. I love putting bb's in my apple pies, mmm! I will be making a few of those this week. I've been craving them.

I still need to wash and photograph the monkey quilt. Will do that in the next few days. So I can get it in the mail.

In the mean time, I've started on this darling baby quilt.

On the Q&N, we make baby quilts for members who are expecting a child or Grandchild, niece or nephew also. This one is for Annette. Her grandbaby is due in November. This is my first baby quilt I'm quilting for this group. I usually just make a block or two. But decided to jump in and start offering to quilt some too. Just simple straight lines. But I think it will look nice when done.

The pattern is hugs and kisses from the Quiltpox site. It's a favorite of our group to do, we've made 3 or 4 of them now.

Have a great day!

Progress

 Hello everyone,

I've been quilting along on my friends baby quilt. Aren't these monkeys adorable??

I was having a hard time on my electric machine. I'm not sure why. Maybe the tension wasn't right, although I did mess with it some. Maybe I am just used to my treadle, or maybe it's because with my treadle, I can control the speed better.

Whatever the reason, I switched to my treadle and was able to finish the quilting without a problem.
It's not the best work, but it's not too bad either. I'm hoping once I wash it, it will look better :)

Here's the back of part of it.

I just have to finish putting the darling binding on (I'm using a zigzag fabric, soooo cute!) and then I'll be done. Just in time too, I want to get it washed and sent across the states to my friend in time for the baby shower.

Will show finished pictures soon!

Have a great day.

A hello..

To all my new followers!! So glad you could drop in and see what I am doing. I hope you enjoyed looking around, and I hope you come back often.

I'm still trying to get out of my rut. It's supposed to be HOT for the next 3 days, blah!! Then we'll cool off into the 80s...at least, that's what they are saying now. So I hope the cooler temps will help with the quilting rut. I have so many things I want to do!

Right now, I am working on my friends baby quilt. I got it all basted and started quilting it today.

I am not a machine quilter, this is only the third baby quilt I'm attempting to machine quilt. I need lots of practice.

I'm a simple type of gal. I like the simple, easy going life...so that reflects in my quilts too, I think. I love the simplicity of straight lines....of course, there are many of you who do absolutely gorgeous long-arm quilting! I just love it. But, I don't think I will ever get that far. I do more intricate work when I hand quilt though.

This is as far as I've gotten...ONE block...the back is looking good, there are no puckers. But when I went from this block, to the next block I started getting puckers on the front?! What am I doing wrong? sigh~ at this rate it's going to take me a lot longer to quilt it than I had hoped.

I am not into making Halloween things, and I have a few nice Thanksgiving table runners, that's about all I decorate. So the next big holiday will be Christmas, and I need to start getting some things done for that.

I bought this lovely FQ bundle of Flurry from LolaPink Fabrics.

So that will be a nice start to C deco's. I have to get a secret santa gift done. So am trying to think of something cute to do. I think this bundle will be great for that project.

That's all the quilty news around here...

Have a great day all!
