Strip easy quilt challenge

Hello Everyone!

Welcome, those of you coming over from the strip challenge. For those of you who don't know what that is, go on over the pieced brain and check it out.

My project is also my May goal for ALOYF (you can read about it here). I had these 20 strips leftover from a jelly roll.

I was making an I spy type of quilt and was trying not to have any duplicates. But thats means I didn't have enough squares to make a lap sized quilt, which is what I was shooting for. So I decided to add these strips to it.

Right after I started work on it, Denise emailed me about her challenge. So I figured it was meant to be. LOL

The border strip is a 12" left over strip I had, that I cut down into 3" strips.

Isn't this binding cute! I thought it would be fun to make a two color binding, as there is so much color in this quilt. And it used up more of those jelly roll strips!

I used 17 of the 20 strips I started with. And I have a 3 or 4 little pieces left over. YAH! Less scraps in my fabric bin.

Thank you Denise for a fun challenge.

Thank you Melissa and Shanna for your monthly challenge ;)

Have a great day.

Bloggers Quilt Festival, quilt 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Bloggers Quilt Festival!

This is my second entry. You can see the first one here.

This is a 32"x32" wall hanging I made for my Dh for Christmas.

I got some inspiration from Canyon Ridge Creations, then got out my paper and pencil and came up with an expanded design.

I had a lot of fun doing some straight line quilting.

And some fmqing.

I pieced it and quilted it on my vintage Singer 201. I love my Singer!

You can read more about this quilt here.

This is entered in the small quilts catagory.

Thanks again Amy for hosting the Festival!

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Bloggers Quilt Festival!

Thank you Amy, for having this festival every year. I really enjoy looking at the quilts. And it's fun to enter one too.

This year I am entering my son's quilt. Jed is 19, and he was way overdue for a large quilt, to fit his 6'3" frame!

I thought these geometric fabrics would fit him perfectly.

 Added in some solids....

And this cool ombre grey, looks just like moonlight shining down on some RR tracks.

My son is a train lover, his quilt is called Train Stop.

This is my first big quilt that I've fmqed. I have a vintage Singer 201, which I love. I do my piecing and quilting on it. I learned a lot quilting this quilt. I need a lot more practice, but I love fmqing :)

Here's a close up shot from the back.

I did a lot of straight line quilting on it also, with a walking foot.

It's 84x84, so a large quilt. The solids are Kona solids. The backing is by V&CO's Simply Color line.

You can read more about this quilt here.

Its' entered in the large quilts catagory.

Thank you all for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed Train Stop. Don't forget to look at all the other quilts in the Festival.

See my second entry here.

WIP Wednesday and May Goals

Hello Everyone,

I hope you're all getting some sunshine now, and the snow has gone away. It's gorgeous here.

I was able to get my picnic quilt top (for the picnic blog hop) all pieced together (I'll show you more of it at the end of the month, as it's also my challenge quilt.) this week.

So today I would like to get it sandwhiched and ready to quilt. That's my May goal for ALOYF, getting this quilted up. It's lap size, so I should be able to get 'er done.

Other than this quilt top, I've gotten a few baby blocks made for a forum members Grandchild. (The color is all screwy in this picture. They are really white/light blue and white/dark blue.)

My April X and + blocks have been done for a few weeks. I just haven't gotten them to the mailbox yet :(

And that's all I've been working on.

Have a great day today!
