I've gotten a few small quilts finished

 Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are enjoying your summer (winter). It's been going from hot to too hot here in California. When I was younger it didn't bother me so much.

But, I've gotten some smaller quilts finished, so that's a good thing. The first one is another baby quilt for a homeschooling friend of mine.

Here's a closeup, lots of little fishes and aquatic life.

So bright and colorful :) It's 40" square.

This next quilt is 40" square as well. A month ago some friends and I on my quilting forum each chose a 1/2 yrd of fabric out of our stash that we considered ugly. The hostess had drawn names for each of us and that is who we sent our 1/2 yrd of fabric too.

The fabric we recieved we had to make a quilt with, turning an ugly piece of fabric into something pretty. 

This is the fabric I was sent.

The colors in the picture are fairly accurate, maybe just a touch more purplish than pinkish though.

I dug thru my fabrics and came up with some to go with it. I decided on the Lone star pattern, it's a good pattern to use as the pieces are small.

I was happy to find coordinating fabrics in my stash. Here's a closeup.

I did have a few issues with the corners on that first border, but if you don't look too closely, you wont see them ;) 

I'm thinking my big Sis would like this quilt...it might look nice on her wall... what do you think Sis?

Baby blankets

  Hello Everyone,

It was a quiet week for me last week. The 24hr tummy bug made it's way thru the family, so not a lot got done on. But I did finish up 2 items.

This first quilt is one we did for a forum member for her Grandson. (It's dark and rainy out, forgive the photos.)

Isn't this darling! The puppies and snails are appliqued on by other forum members. They did such a great job!

Here's the back, with a custom label another forum member makes.

Just some straight line quilting on either side of major seams, and the squares around the animals. Plus a diamond on the snails trail blocks.

I just love prairie points! It just adds that special touch to a baby quilt.

And one for Isaiah. The best receiving blanket I received when he was born was the one I got at the hospital. It was just 2 pieces of flannel, 1 square yrd of each, sewn right sides together, turned so the right side is out and top stitched.

This is the perfect size and weight for snuggling Isaiah in while up in the chilly morning, before the fire heats up.

So I had to make him another with the flannel I got on Henry Glasses blog hop a month or so back.

I used soft fleece for the back. No batting. Done just as I described above. And once he's too big for it, it's easy to unpick the sewing on the edges and put with others to make a larger one :)

Quilting fun

  Hello Everyone,

Hope your weekend is going well.

I've been happily sewing along! I just LOVE my new machine and the walking foot.

This project is for a forum member. It's a quilt for her Grandson. We do this for all our members who have a new baby coming to the family.

I started quilting this quilt with my White and a regular presser foot. And now that I am using a walking foot, WOW, what a difference!!

Isn't this quilt cute?? I'll show you the whole quilt when I'm done. It's just some straight line quilting along the seams. But with all that applique, that's all the quilt really needs... I know, I still have lots of practicing to do :)

Here is another project I'm working on. A Fall table runner.

This is my own pattern. Using those cute little windmill blocks and some flying geese blocks. I was able to quilt this up in two of Isaiah's nap times. Using stitch in the ditch method this time.

I just have to get the binding on, and then this project is done. YAH!

Happy Fourth, and a finish...

Happy Fourth of July to my American readers! I hope you have a fantastic day and enjoy some fireworks.

Now that my little guy is 3 months old, it's getting a little easier to get some sewing time in. He's happy hanging out with  a brother or sister for a bit. And he's finding it easier to nap in his crib, instead of on Me :)

Here is my Butterfly quilt.

I backed it with some soft fleece and had fun with the sewing. I didn't mark any lines, so they are a bit wavy and uneven... but that just adds some whimsy to the quilt, yes?? LOL

Can you see my big mistake??

I put that one piece on backwards, and didn't even realize it. It says I 'heart' Mommy, I 'heart' Daddy...but you need a mirror to read it ;)

Here are a close up of the quilting... I'm getting better.

Isaiah is such a good baby, most the time. He's given me time to sew this week. It sure did feel good to get back into the swing of things.

I have some charm squares. These were given to me by a friend, and I'm not sure what line it is. Although it looks familiar.

And some polk a dots and circles for fun (the polk a dot is really a nice pink, but it's not showing up well in this picture).

I'm being a little cryptic in what I'm making, as it's for my good friends new GD. And she reads my blog :) But you quilters probably know what blocks these are....shhhh~ lol

Isaiah is doing so good now. He's growing everyday, and getting stronger.

Sunshine Kisses is finished!

 Hello everyone,

I finished my lovely Sunshine Kisses quilt. Ohh, I just love it! So soft and warm and snuggly looking. The Sunkissed line by SweetWater is still one of my very favorites.

This is an original design, by me. I pieced it and quilted it too.
 .

 As you can see, I did straight line quilting, one row on each side of the major seam lines. To emphasis the 4 square patches.

 This is a darling size quilt. Just right for a toddler to have a picnic on, or maybe a tea party with lots of stuffed animals. It's also just the right size for the baby in your life. Measures 46"x46".

Here's a better view of the back. I took it before I had finished the quilt. I decided I didn't like the green on the edges, so exchange them for a gray.

I've decided to dip my feet in the selling waters around here, and see if I can make a go at making some Christmas money :)

 I don't have an Etsy store, or any other online store. I know there are quite a few out there, but I don't think I have enough stuff yet to get one.

The Monkey quilt

 My friends dd has received her quilt, she says she loves it :) So here it is. It's an original design, by me.

I just LOVE this zig zag binding!

The theme of the nursery is Jungle. So I just HAD to draft a 'monkeys jumping on the bed' block.

A simple quilt, but fun to make and look at.

And the pieced backing, with the label in the middle.
