April goal...MET!!

Hello Everyone,

Another gorgeous day for us here. Looks like our usual rainy April is giving us a break this year.

Woohoo!! I am happy to say, that my I spy quilt is finally, completely finished!!

I bound it with this cute, color fabric...sorry, I don't know what line it is.

Little man approved!

He thinks those flaps are fun.

Thank you Shanna and Melissa, this is great!

Now to figure out what my May goal will be!!

Have a great day.

WIP Wednesday

Good afternoon Ya'all,

It's a gorgeous day here in California. The sun is out, the wind is blowing... the wind would be nice if it didn't stir up all the pollen and throw it around. lol

I'm working on my Pats Gems pattern. I'm doing a Saturday special on it next month (a free pattern for you all) and I'm testing  and tweaking so it's ready to go.

Don't you just love these vibrant, beautiful colors! Mostly it's the Simply Color line, by Vanessa and Co.

I had to throw a few solids and some Chevrons in there too.

Linking up with Lee.

Have a great day.

Saturday Special

Hello Folks,

Next month, I'm hosting a Saturday special over on the Q&N! It's my Pats Gems pattern, and it will be free for one month, then I'll take it down.

We would love for you to come over and spend the day or part of the day, sewing along with us. Sharing what fabrics you're using, and posting pictures of your progress along the way.

It's an easy pattern that was made with charm packs in mind. Layer cakes are easily used also. And if you have yardage to use instead, that works too. You will be using 5" squares for the quilt. So even scraps will work. You will need five different colors. The quilt measures roughly 54"x70".

You will need seventy-five 5" squares: These are the colors I used. I bought 2 charm packs to make it.

10 green
  9 pink
12 purple
24 blue
20 orange

You will also need 2.5 yrds of a contrasting background fabric. You want your five colors to really stand out against the background.

If you have FQ's, you can use them too! Here is the run down on that... (Thanks Pat!) Cut them into 5" squares.

1 green
1 pink
1 purple
2 blue
2 orange

Here is my original Pat's Gems pattern.

But I changed it up a bit for my Saturday Special. The one we will be making is larger, without the pieced border.

April mid-month check in

Hello Everyone,

I'm checking in with Shanna and Melissa.

A Lovely Year of Finishes

I've finished quilting my I spy!! woohoo... now it just needs a binding.

I thought I'd show you what was in all those peek a boo tabs. Here's one quarter of the quilt. I love the big numbered blocks too.

Second quarter. I messed up and put two of the same fabrics side by side here.

Third quarter.

And the fourth quarter.  I found one block upside down, when I was quilting. grrr. But I did not see any need to stop quilting, do some ripping, and turn it around.  Panel 10 was too large, it was twice as long. So I just cut the number out and added trucks around it, to make it a smaller size. It originally had trees on it.

Animals and vehicles. Isaiah loves both. Anything with an engine is dear to him. LOL

Have a great day!

Coming up in May

Hello Everyone,

May is a busy month for me, quilty wise. I have decided to jump back on the band wagon and start doing some blog hops thru Sew We Quilt.

The first one is 'It's for the birds'. My Grandma was born May 1st, so I thought this would be a great theme for her birthday gift. She will be 90 this year. Here is sneak peek. I don't know what day I am hopping yet, I'll let you know though.

Then I joined "Say it with Flowers" blog hop too, later in the month. These are the fabrics I'll be using for that. I won a gift certificate to Quilting Lodge  on last's months  A year of finishes! Thanks Shanna and Melissa. And this is what I bought, Flea Market Fancy and a solid to match.

Our forum is starting to do some Saturday Specials again. On May 18th , I will be doing my Pats Gems pattern as a free pattern. I will leave the pattern up for one month, then take it down. It's a fun pattern, and is easy to make. You have to be a member of our forum, to get the pattern.

A fun month for me, I hope you all stick around for the fun.

On another note. Christa, from Christa quilts, is having a fun giveaway every week for a YEAR! You'll see her button on my side bar, to the left. How cool. Thanks Christa. She has a great little store too, you should check it out.

WIP Wednesday

Hello Everyone,

What a gorgeous day it is here in N. California! The sun is shinning, it's warm and we have lots of things blooming :)

I am having a Saturday Special on the Forum next month for my Pats' Gems pattern. (More about that soon.) So I am 'testing' my pattern again, as is my good friend Pat.

Here I have my background fabrics cut and ready to go. I'm pairing them up with charm packs of Simply Color. I've had these charms for awhile, just waiting for a chance to get this pattern done up.

I'm also still plugging along, quilting my I spy, I am half way done! Woohoo!

Those are my two main projects this month. Linking up with Lee.

Have a great day,

Thanks for stopping by.

April goal

Hello Everyone,

I hope Spring has sprung wherever you are...unless it's Winter in your neck of the world ;) We have RedBud's blooming and wild flowers starting to show their faces. I love this time of year.

I know you are all sick of hearing about my I Spy by now, but it's my April goal. I need to get it finished. Meaning, completely quilted and bound. Thats my goal!

And then I can concentrate on Grandma's 90th birthday present, which is also my project for our Birds blog hop on Sew We Quilt in May.

And work on my oldest son's quilt.

Linking up with QuiltStory today also.(Darn it! Sorry Quiltstory readers, I meant to link you to my March finish post, as it has more pictures of my I spy. You can find it here, if you want.)
