Lets bee Social

Hello Everyone,
I'm joining Lorna today, on Lets Bee Social.

My youngest son just turned 6. About a month ago, I was getting him into bed, and he said "Mom, you haven't made me any quilts."

I laughed and said, "What are all these on your bed then? I see at least 3 quilts I made you."

His reply, " No, I mean the kind you hang on the wall and look at."

I had no idea he wanted a wall hanging. But I immediatelly thought of Lorna and her darling puppy pattern.

Because Isaiah has a stuffed puppy that he plays with all the time, he can't go to sleep if Heart puppy isn't with him. He's had this puppy since he was 2, and he still loves it to pieces.

So I bought some heart fabric and made a wall hanging to put above his bed.

I quilted bones in the blue part (sorry for the fuzzy photos).

Isaiah loves his wall hanging. Thank you Lorna, for so many cute patterns! And for having a linky party.

Let's Bee Social

Hello All,

I've finally got to do some more work on my Bear. On Sunday we had a beautiful, but windy day here. The wind was cold. My family was outside doing various things and I sat down at my sewing machine, had my music on, and proceeded to get some blocks made.

I only messed up 3 times.... sigh~ had to get that old seam ripper out and made the same mistake twice.

Finally I got them whipped into shape though ;)

I am using a 10" stack of Fusion Blooms for my bear and the bear paws, so my bear is going to be scrappy. I'm not sure if I am going to like it or not, I might end up redoing him. But I will see what he looks like once he is all pieced together.

Linking up with Lorna.

Have a great day all. post signature

Doing some quilting for a change

Hello All,

I made this Irish chain quilt a few years (at least!) ago. I just love the flower pattern, and Irish chain patterns are one of my favorites.

It's just been sitting in my UFO pile. I needed a nice lap quilt though, to send to my Aunt. She's losing her battle with cancer :( And I wanted to send her something to wrap her in love and comfort.

It's 60x60 and I'm doing a bit of straight line quilting with my walking foot (on both diagonal's in the tannish squares) and I'll do some FMQing in the big flower squares. So it shouldn't take me too very long. (My new table is AWESOME!!)

Before I pulled this out, I was getting some more Cornerstone blocks made.

I so enjoy working with these colors, there are many more to do, this is just a small part of it. Lots more colors to work with :)

WIP Wednesday, making progress

Hello Everyone,

California is getting some rain, I hope the fires are getting rained on. They really need to be put out.

I'm finally making some progress on my quilt. I even found a name for it :) Cornerstones.

I'm chain piecing 2 geese blocks together.

I need 4 of these units per block.

And here is the finished block. You can see why I am calling it Cornerstones.

It feels good to have all that trimming done, so now I can get to the fun part of putting them all together.

WIP Wednesday

Good morning everyone!

Hope your day is off to a good start. It's going to be a beautiful day here.

I've been working on my disappearing 9patch quilt. I haven't figured out a name for it yet.

Here's the 9 patches, all ready for a good press and then cutting them apart.

And here are the flying geese, in progress.

I use the method where you get 4 geese out of 1 larger square and 4 smaller squares. I'm almost done with these, then I'll press and trim.

Linking up with Lee and Lorna again today. Thanks Ladies.

A fun finish

Hello All,

Spring is in the air here in N. California. The Redbuds are in bloom

As are some of my Iris's.

The oak trees are leafing out and we have some fruit on our plum tree!

And here's whats blooming inside...

My first attempt at raw edge applique. Not the greatest work.

But I had a lot of fun, especially with quilting it.

Here's the back, so bright and cheerful.

I'm also working on my Birds blog hop projects. I have one completed, and am hoping to get another one done before my day, next Wed.

I hope you all are getting a bit of sunshine too.

Linking up with Lorna today and Quilt Story, thanks Ladies!
