Monkey Maze

Well the top is about finished. I want to buy some solid or TonT to make an outer border. As I want it just a shade bigger.

It's not a good day for picture taking. Gray and gloomy out. So I pinned it to the wall...and got a not very good picture. LOL

Monkey's geese, and zigzags..lol, a nice bright quilt for some lucky baby. Once it's quilted that is :)

I'm linking up with Jenna of SewHappyGeek today, thanks Jenna!

Linking up with Quilt story today, thanks H&M!

Have a great night!

A gaggle of geese

It's finally time for changing colors here. We have a lot of black oaks, and they look beautiful with there yellow and light green leaves.

Which also mean it's time for geese...

These ones are flying around my sewing room. The ones below are flying overhead outside, looking for a warmer climate.

I am pairing up my geese with some signature blocks. Not sure if they have another name or not, but this is what I know them as.

I've gone thru my stash, looking for tone on tones and solids to match.

Throw in a few monkeys...

And put the geese together in long rows.

Lots of ironing and trimming!! UGH, I hate trimming...but it's the only way to tame these geese. Do you know, I make better geese if I cut out three triangles and sew them together, then if I make them the shortcut way?? Weird.

The zigzag, dots and monkeys (Anne Kelle prints) are leftover from my monkey quilt.  I thought the zigzags would make cute geese, and they do! lol

I'll show you how all my blocks play together, when I'm finished. It's going to be a baby quilt.

Have a great day!

My store!

Well, I did it. I just have a few items right now, but do plan on listing more as I go along. Just some hand made things I've been making. Here is my button, I've also put it over there on the right. Just click on it and it will take you there.

I'm so excited! This is all new territory for me and I'm a bit nervous too. But I have lots of loving support and I hope that I can dedicate more time to making and selling things.

If any one is interested in some of my items in pattern form, so you can make your own, please let me know and I will see about making some up to put in the store also. I do have my ditty bag and my FQ purse in pattern form, but need to take some time to work on others.

Hope you have a great day!

Whew! It's fixed....

Hi all, I was having problems with my camera software. Soooo glad it's fixed!! I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't put my pictures up.

So here's a few pictures of the snow we had last weekend.
This is in our front yard. Under that snow is some rock pathways and flower/herb beds.

Here is our garden area, we still have some Kale, spinach, swiss chard, and maybe some lettuce growing! They don't mind the snow it seems....at least for a few days.

And as the name of my blog implies, we do live on a ridge. LOL. This is the view of the canyon/ridge on other side, that is on the other side of our house.

And now....back to sewing! Our favorite hobby...

Here is a sneak peek of the table runner I am making as a tutorial, you'll get to see all of it in Dec.

I've been on a prairie point kick lately. Put some on my bag from the last post, and this runner. They are fun and easy to make, and just give your project a little extra.

If you don't know how to make them, I do have a tutorial in my tutorial section, here is the direct link to the prairie points.

You would think with all the time I've had with no computer last weekend, that I would of been sewing up a storm! But other than the bag, runner and secret C gift, that's all the sewing I've been doing.

I've got an idea for a boy quilt though...so am going to start on that today, as it's a rainy day, so a great time to spend in front of the sewing machine.

OH, and a BIG THANKS to  Jera, from Quilting in the Rain. I've won a $20 gc from her brand NEW online store. Go check it out!! She has some lovely fabric, great prices, and give aways!

Have a great day all!!

I'm back

Hello everyone,

I didn't mean to go AWOL on you, but had some internet problems, so have been down for a week.

I have some lovely snow pictures to show you....but my camera software decided not to work...sigh~ It was a cold, snowy, slushy weekend last weekend.

I got two tutorials made and pictures taken...just have to get them written up. I did manage to get a picture of one of the projecs onto the computer.

A cute little gift bag. Just right for filling with Legos, Transfomers, Dolly's, horses, whatever small things your child loves to carry around.

I'll get my software figured out and come back with more pictures.

Have a great day!

Sunshine Kisses is finished!

 Hello everyone,

I finished my lovely Sunshine Kisses quilt. Ohh, I just love it! So soft and warm and snuggly looking. The Sunkissed line by SweetWater is still one of my very favorites.

This is an original design, by me. I pieced it and quilted it too.
 .

As you can see, I did straight line quilting, one row on each side of the major seam lines. To emphasis the 4 square patches.

This is a darling size quilt. Just right for a toddler to have a picnic on, or maybe a tea party with lots of stuffed animals. It's also just the right size for the baby in your life. Measures 46"x46".

A few close ups of the quilting.

Here's a better view of the back. I took it before I had finished the quilt. I decided I didn't like the green on the edges, so exchange them for a gray.

I've decided to dip my feet in the selling waters around here, and see if I can make a go at making some Christmas money :)

I don't have an Etsy store, or any other online store. I know there are quite a few out there, but I don't think I have enough stuff yet to get one.

If anyone is interested in my quilt, just send me an email/comment and I'll get back to you.

Have a great day!

Fall pictures...

But not your typical ones of changing leaves and pumpkins :)

These are some flowers my DD has planted and taken care of. She loves to garden.

And she loves playing with the macro lens on my camera. Yes, she took all these pictures :)

 Some crunchy brown leaves...

Some bird berries..

One thing I love about Fall is the ever changing sky. We get a lot of clouds moving around and about, sometimes leaving some rain, other times just pretty-ing up the sky.

These are sunset pictures. I'll have to take some sunrise pictures one morning.

I'm always up before the sun is, and I love to watch it come up while I eat my breakfast.

Have a beautiful day.

A finished top

Hello everyone! Hope you are all enjoying some lovely Fall days...I know I am, finally. It's just beautiful here. Warm and sunny, with some rainy days thrown in...perfect.

I started this quilt in the Spring this year. It was intended for a jelly roll challenge.

I love the Sunkissed line, so was happy to get a jelly roll and start playing.

But, due to some math problems (who else hates math??!) which meant some fabric shortages (as I wanted particular colors and didn't have enough in the jelly roll), I didn't get this cute thing done in time for the challenge.

Soooo, my fourth child is due in the Spring, April to be exact :)  And I thought this would make a darling Spring baby quilt.

Here she is, Sunshine Kisses.....I have plenty of time to quilt it too.

And even though this quilt would be cute for either boy or girl, it is a bit more girly...so now I best make a more boy-y looking one....as we won't know the sex of our baby...till he/she gets here :)

And now it makes sense, all my no-blogging and tiredness...yes?!

Have a great day!

I needed a new wallet....

My old one was OLD. I've had it for 15 or 16 yrs! It was getting worn out, and I really needed a new one.

Sitting like this, it's 8x4.5". I didn't want one that folds up small. I needed one that wont get lost in a diaper bag, come next Spring :) You all know how when you carry a diaper bag, you don't want to have to carry a purse too. So this will fit right in, and it wont get lost.

It's 8x14" when open like this.

It has plenty of room for my cards, a zip pocket for cash/change and a hidden pocket for my checkbook.

I still have to put some velcro on the tip of the point and the back of the zip pouch, so it stays shut. But I didn't have any, so made one without.

I am not sure what I'm going to work on today. Maybe it's a good time to start getting some 'C' presents made.

What are you up to? Do you have a list of 'C' presents that you need to make too?

Have a great day!!

I'm linking up with Jenna this week, at SewHappyGeek. Thanks Jenna!
And with H&M at QuiltStory, thanks H&M!

PS, don't forget to drop me a comment and leave me your name, if you're a wantobe quilter! LOTS of prizes you could win over at the Stash, come August.
