A table runner

Linking up with Karen! I love doing this, thanks Karen.

sew many ways

If you all read my post over at the Q&N, you know I've decided to really start doing some machine quilting this year. Of course, I hope to get back to my hand quilting soon too, but I need to fix my hand first :)

I have 3 times as many of these ....

That need to be quilted. So I need to do some machine quilting too.

I got the right presser foot for doing some straight line quilting.

Just some simple, echo quilting.

I still have a problem with getting my backing nice and smooth.

I know...lots of crinkles....

The front doesn't look too bad though.

A happy Spring runner.

I figure I'll have plenty of practice this Summer :)

Advice, comments, helpful tips are all very much appreciated.

Have a great day.

Thanks for stopping by, Dorian

Dorian ... very pretty! Nice job on your first machine quilty! Advice? ... from me? ... lol ... just keep quilting and finding what works for you and your machine. In my experience, practice never makes perfect, but it does get better. Just relax and enjoy. Every quilt is an heirloom that was made with love ... :) Pat

That looks great to me. I'm on my first quilt, I'm not at the quilting stage yet! I love the colors on your piece, they are so bright and happy!
Have a great week, visiting from Sew Darn Crafty.

I love your table topper. Those colors are fantastic and is what really caught my eye. I think you did a great job on your quilting.

I think your table runner looks great! Who is ever going to see the back anyway? My advice is in the layering process. Spread the backing nice and flat, taught, not tight, and tape it down. Then spread on the batting, again, flat but not tight, and tape it down. Then, you guessed it! Quilt top, tape it down, then baste as desired. If pin-basting, use more pins than you think you need, about 4-6" apart. I used to stretch my backing too tight and that caused lots of puckers and tucks on the back. I hope this helps!

I think you did a great job! Have you tried 505 Basting Spray? It makes life easier and this brand will not gum up your sewing machine. You picked out some very pretty colors.
