Ruffles just add a little something feminine to things. They're sweet, and frilly, and so very girlish. Being a mountain girl, I am not a very girly-girl. But I do enjoy those little bits of prettiness here and there throughout my house.

I've had this rocking chair for 20 yrs. It was given to me not long after I got pregnant with my first baby. You can see the wear and tear on it. And it was really time for a new back cushion!
The ruffle is small, a folded 2.5" strip, but it's just right for this chair. Too big and it wouldn't have any room.
The bottom piece needs a new cushion too..... But it's not going to be this pretty, and it certainly wont have a ruffle.....there is just too much wear and tear on that seat ;)
As you can see, I love making Lone star patterns. And if they intimidate you a little bit, maybe my tips and tricks will help ease you thru it.
My ruffle was made easy with my ruffler foot!

Gorgeous cushion with your star patchwork and the sweet little ruffle. Ruffler sewing feet are so intimidating looking but they work wonderfully; they make ruffles a cinch!

I too have developed a passion for lone star/variations quilts. With the strip piecing, they are so much easier than they look. I think the addition of the small ruffle to the rocking chair back pad adds just that finishing touch that says you make your projects individualized -- made by you!! I like it.

Love the ruffle accents and all the details in your piecing. I've always thought the ruffle foot would be a neat thing to play with but like you I'm not usually a ruffle kind-of girl. That's a perfect accent for your piece though!

I'm thinking of asking for a ruffler foot for a present this year. Yet, I have a friend who has one for her machine. I can always go use hers. We have different brands of machines. I love the rocker back pillow. I have no idea what happened to my rocker that I got right out of college. I loved it. I'll take a look at your Lone Star tips and tricks for sure.
