Say it with Flowers!

Hello All,

It's my day on the blog hop! First though, a big thank you to Samm and Carol for another wonderful blog hop.

I love flowers! Wildflowers, daisy's, roses, flowering trees...I just love that burst of color set among the greens and browns.

This is one of my roses, isn't it gorgeous!

I have no idea what the name is, it was already here when we moved in.

But I also love flowers on my fabric. If you looked at my stash, you would see that about 75% of it is flowery!

When this pretty Flea Market fancy arrived in my mailbox, I just knew it had to become my new bag.

I hate having to carry two bags around, a diaper bag and a purse. I don't need a large purse, just something big enough to carry a few things. And my previous diaper bag/purse combo was just too large. I usually left it in the van and just took my wallet in stores with me.

This one is just right for a trip to town. It holds diapers, wraps and a set of clothing, plus his sippy cup.

And it has a seperate pocket for my wallet, keys and sunglasses. Plus its large enough for any papers I aquire, roaming around town.

It's just the right size for me, at 16"x14"x4".

About halfway thru the month, I decided that I needed to make something else out of that lovely print too. LOL

Hexagons are always fun to make. I sewed these large ones with my machine. Yes, that means Y seams, but they aren't that bad. I've got some tips for you here.

(Don't look too closely at my quilting...I'm still learning how to do machine quilting.)

So that's it for my projects. Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you are enjoying the hop! Please stop bt and see what these other Ladies have made.

Bloggers quilt festival, take 2

Good morning ya'all!

Amy has said we can enter two quilts into the festival, woohoo~ So I thought I'd throw in my scrappy boxes.

It's been a few years since I've made this, but I love it and have used it as Isaiah's quilt- in- the- bed all Winter. It's the perfect size for a bitty baby.

I had a bunch of 1" in width bits of scraps that I didn't want to part with. So came up with this scrappy design.

I started with this..

Made in a rainbow of colors....

And then CUT on both diagonals!!

Made a middle...

And put it all together.

 Here's the back...

Name: scrappy boxes
Size: 45" square
Designed, pieced and quilted by me!

More about it here.

Thanks for stopping by! Here's a link to my first entry, if you haven't seen it already.

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Hello Everyone,

This is my first year of joining in the fun over at Amy's place. I do enjoy seeing all the beautiful quilts every year. So decided to jump on board this year, with my I spy quilt.

Those of you who read me often are probably sick of this quilt by now ;) LOL Welcome to those of you coming over from Amy's.

You can read more about my quilt/process here , here.
Here's the binding.

My little guy really likes it :) In this picture you can see him lifting a flap. All the colored squares are flaps, and you when lift them up there is a color co-ordinated animal or vehicle. He loves both!

Measures: 60"x60"
Fabrics: Sunkissed, Ten Little Things, Chevron
Designed, pieced and quilted by me.

Saturday Special

Hello All,

It's almost time for our Saturday special on the Q&N forum. I hope you are planning on joining us for a fun day of sewing!

Here is my pattern, minus the simple border....I ran out of fabric for it, and can't find anything other in my stash to go there. lol

This is my Pats Gems pattern. It will be a free event, just come to the forum, sign in, and chat with us as we all sew together. I'll have the pdf up early in the morning (Pacific time), Saturday, May 18th. The pdf will stay up for one month, then I'll take it down.

It's an easy pattern, and goes together fairly quickly. Lots of chain piecing.

Here is my good friend Pats' lovely version! She was one of my testers. Thank you Pat.

Hope to see you there! Oh, and I have a button over on the right side of my screen. You are welcome to put it on your blog.

Have a great day.

My day on the Birdy blog hop!

Hello Everyone,

So glad you could come and join me on this fun hop! A big thanks going out to Samm, and her wonderful blog hop ideas! A big thanks to Mary, for being our hostess and keeping things together.

My Grandma's 90th birthday is this month. Her name is Maybird, so what better way to celebrate than to make her a cute little birdie wall hanging!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at first. So I started going thru my stash, to see what, if any, bird fabric I had. I came across these darling, fun birds and decided to do a whimsical wall hanging.

I wish I had this Lady's applique talent, I love her birds! But as I don't, I searched the web and found this cute bird as a free pattern from McCalls quilting magazine. It's foundation piecing, which I can do.

I don't think I got my wing just right... but oh well, she is still cute, yes?

Added a few hst's and the cute bird fabric as a border. Then did some stitching.

Here are more hoppers for you to go and see what lovely creations they have made. There is a full list of the bird hop over here at Mary's.

Thanks again Samm and Mary!

WIP Wednesday

Hello Everyone,

It's another Wednesday, they seem to get here so quickly, just where is the time going?

I have a teething baby, who is fussy and clingy, so I haven't been doing much sewing. But I did manage to whip these 18 windmill star blocks up.

Chain piecing, these come together soooo quickly!

I'm using my beloved Sunkissed as background and/or more windmill blocks.

I haven't decided yet, if I am going to keep the hexagon shape, or add background to make them squares. I'm just not sure how I want to lay them out yet.

These were made using Kona solids, in the architextures jelly roll. The background is Sunkissed by Sweetwater.

Hooking up with Lee again.

Oh look, Julie is showing off her versions of this block! (I used her hex n more ruler too.)

Have a great day!

Leftovers

And no, not the dinner kind ;)

Howdy Folks, back in March Jess had another fabulous mystery quilt weekend. It used jelly rolls, and here is what I had leftover when we were done. Lots of strips sewn together, and partly cut into. But also whole wof strips.

While doing the mystery quilt, and any other time I have some strips like this sewn together, I immediately think of Lone star quilts. So I thought I could use the leftovers and do that. But... I've made a few of those... here, herehere

So I kept that in the back of my mind and let it stew.

In the mean time, I started seeing, and remembering, other star quilts that were just gorgeous. Like this one from V&co.

And this one from Rachel.

photo taken from stitchedincolor.com
And then Lee started her Bloom, bloom, pow quilt along.

picture taken from freshlypieced.com
And that was it. I knew what I was going to do with my pretty leftovers.

I matched my oranges to other colors. So all my blocks with have a shade of orange in them.

Then I used my hex n more ruler and started cutting.

And came up with this.

One strip will give me enough for both these blocks. All my blocks with have a different shade of orange, for each set. And different colors...blues, greens, purples. I'm having fun~

Hope you have a great weekend.
