My day on the Birdy blog hop!

Hello Everyone,

So glad you could come and join me on this fun hop! A big thanks going out to Samm, and her wonderful blog hop ideas! A big thanks to Mary, for being our hostess and keeping things together.

My Grandma's 90th birthday is this month. Her name is Maybird, so what better way to celebrate than to make her a cute little birdie wall hanging!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at first. So I started going thru my stash, to see what, if any, bird fabric I had. I came across these darling, fun birds and decided to do a whimsical wall hanging.

I wish I had this Lady's applique talent, I love her birds! But as I don't, I searched the web and found this cute bird as a free pattern from McCalls quilting magazine. It's foundation piecing, which I can do.

I don't think I got my wing just right... but oh well, she is still cute, yes?

Added a few hst's and the cute bird fabric as a border. Then did some stitching.

Here are more hoppers for you to go and see what lovely creations they have made. There is a full list of the bird hop over here at Mary's.

Thanks again Samm and Mary!

  26. What an appropriate gift for your grandmother. I have a 90 year old friend who made me a Double Wedding Ring quilt when she was 89. I am currently working on the binding for it. Your grandmother is going to be thrilled. Hope to see you soon in more hops. Thanks for participating.
